CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN JAMMU & KASHMIR: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES..... I have discussed in this book mainly about the Conflict resolution mechanism in the context of Kashmir conflict. Kashmir conflict is long standing wrangle between India & Pakistan. Due to this political wrangle the people of Kashmir suffered a lot. I tried to see the Kashmir imbroglio in the light of constitutional means. Because the people of Jammu& Kashmir had been given special rights in constitution of India but those rights have been violated gradually and slowly by the Central government of India and by the State government of Jammu&Kashmir. This violation of rights paved a way to cycle of violence in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. So, I discussed in detail that Kashmir debacle could be transformed and managed when India will not interfere in the fundamental rights of people Kashmir and let it remain for them without any interference. In nutshell, this is actually a greater autonomy debate which I have discussed in detail.
This book examines the traditional mechanisms for conflict resolution in Africa using Igboland in Nigeria as a case study. The seeming failure of modern methods of conflict resolution has reinforced the turn to traditional mechanisms as the people appear to have more confidence in extant methods of resolving conflicts. The conflict between Aguleri/Umuleri communities in Igboland justifies the use of traditional conflict resolution mechanisms giving the elusive quest for peace within the modern conflict resolution apparatus in the post colonial Nigerian State. In the final analysis after over 100 years of dispute, the book argues that it was through the traditional peace process initiated by the Umuada women group and discussion within the village assembly comprising of male folk and final consummation through oath-taking that led to the successful resolution of the conflict.

Hence, the findings of this research can be used as an input for future researches on ICRMs.

The customary conflict resolution mechanisms help to ensure peace and security thereby to maintain stability in the country in general and in Raya in particular. It is also accessible to members of the society. Above all such customary tribunals’ activities reduce unnecessary delay of justice, as "Justice delayed is justice denied." And customary conflict resolution mechanisms help to avoid the sentiment of revenge among the disputing parties. However, the customary conflict resolution mechanisms have their own defect and sometimes they contradict with modern legal systems as they support criminals not to be prosecuted since customary tribunals resolve the problem. In Raya-rayuma there are almost the same customary laws and traditional practices though the people speak different languages. The Rayan customary conflict resolution mechanisms mainly focus on settling disputes and redressing the victim(s) of the conflicts rather punishing the perpetrator.
